Hot New High Street Rattan Furniture

I was lucky enough to collaborate recently with MADE.com on a collection of tips for styling rattan furniture in your home, whether you’re into free and easy ‘70s boho revival, or elegant Japanese minimalism – or anything in between.

While I was working on the piece, it was necessary to conduct some…industry research. That’s my story for why there’s two rattan trays and a rattan mirror on their way to my house in the post, and I’m sticking to it. I simply can’t resist rattan furniture.

There was so much good rattan furniture dropping onto high street retailers’ ‘New In’ section using my beloved rattan, that I couldn’t resist an update to my round-up of the best rattan on the high street. This trend clearly isn’t going anywhere.

In fact, brands are updating their treatment of the woven stuff. Pairing pale, varnished rattan with a strong black trim is a clear trend – one that Zara Home are nailing at every term. I’m really excited to see designers finding more creative ways to use the material for accessories and fixtures – it makes the trend way more accessible, without the need to invest in high-ticket furniture.
